Drawing rave reviews from fans and critics, City of David's music
covers a diversely artistic panorama of melodic lyrics that deliver a high-energy sound in an atmosphere of funk, southern and classic rock. Their creative melodies occasionally evoke some of the acoustic styling of Dave Mathews, and at other times you'll detect a subtle hint of Maroon 5 delivered with the grand musical scope of DecemberRadio.

They have quickly earned a sing-along relationship with the fans they've met on their fall church outreach tour and from the radio play they have received. Several of the songs from City of David's debut record, released in June of this year, were featured on ReachFM radio. Their version of a Rich Mullin's tune, "Awesome God," reached number three on ReachFM's Christian Rock Countdown! (www.reachfm.org)

City of David released their self-titled and self-produced, debut album on June 30th, 2007, ministering to a sold out crowd as they opened for national recording artist, Jimmy Needham giving back to the community with over 100 free tickets to corporate sponsors, youth groups and non-profit organizations. Their lyrics speak boldly of their relationship with the Lord. That uncompromising spirit is heard in songs like "Mercy and Grace," which documents God's love for His children, and how incredibly merciful He is.

City of David's approach is one that embraces people of all backgrounds and faiths. With God, the Father guiding them as their songwriter, producer and conductor, they make their relationship with Him a way of life . . . not a religion as they share their faith through their personal testimonies and their music. Though they are experiencing a whirlwind of activity, complete with radio play, church concert series tour with ReachFM, and CD release, they are not taking their eyes off the fundamental message they are committed to share . . . a message of hope, mercy and grace through a relationship with Jesus Christ.

They kicked off their South Florida ReachFM Concert Series Tour in August with a double-header as the special guests of Shaun Groves. City of David's next record, titled REFUGE will be an all-acoustic album and is slated for release in the spring of 2008. INDIVIDUAL BIOS:

DAVID QUILES, singer, songwriter and musician is the brainchild of City of David. He plays rhythm guitar, writes most of the band's songs and is the lead vocal artist. He was born on March 9, 1977 in Boynton Beach, Florida. His family migrated from Utuado, Puerto Rico to New York and settled in Boynton Beach in the late sixties.

He has been playing guitar since he was nine years old. At the age of eighteen, his first single was released and received radio play on SUNNY 104.3 and WJNO. Dave formed a new group with three of his friends called Versatyle. He was introduced to Domingo, former producer for Big Punisher and began working with him. Three songs written and arranged by David and performed by his group Versatyle, called SPANISH ANGEL, SHE'S ALL GAME and DO IT TO YOU, were selected for the soundtrack of an indie film, called LOST MONEY written and directed by Juney Smith and distributed by Maverick Entertainment. His song, Spanish Angel was also released in two other indie films produced by Breakaway Productions, SeƱorita Justice, written by Daniel Chiu and directed by Kant, and Carlita's Secret, directed by George Cotayo, and written by Ron Castell, and Daniel Chiu. David also had the privilege of working with Eddie Montilla who was responsible for mastering the Bad Boys II soundtrack and is best known for writing and performing the song, Conga with Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine.

David is in his second year as the worship leader of a local church in West Palm Beach along with two of his band members, Bob Guss and Robert Gugliuzza, his sister, Jennifer Mowell and long-time friends and City of David band managers, Tom and Rachael Streifel.

ROBERT GUGLIUZZA is known to everyone as Bobby G. He was introduced to the band when David recorded a demo in his recording studio. He is a multi-talented singer, songwriter and musician, and comes from a family of talented musicians including his father, who is a well-known New Orleans drummer. Prior to being with City of David, he was the lead singer and songwriter for LADEN, an independent AOR band that opened for national bands like Foghat, Night Ranger, Rodger Waters and many more. He also was a part of two live TV shows with Laden and opened up for Boston in West Palm Beach, Florida.

BOB GUSS had no intentions of becoming a bass player, but God had other plans when He put David Quiles in his path. When he was ten years old, he turned his back on God which put him in a very dark place spiritually and emotionally. He started playing rhythm guitar at the age of fourteen, and by the grace of God was able to learn to play the guitar without one lesson. At twenty years old, Bob had a supernatural encounter with Christ and surrendered his life to Him. Now twenty-two, he loves more than anything that he has the opportunity to play and create music that glorifies God. He is heavily influenced by David Gilmour, Jimi Hendrix, and Victor Wooten, to name a few, but more than anything he is inspired by Jesus Christ and the new life he has in Him.

Bob says about his life as a Christian musician, "I give all credit to Jesus for blessing me with the gift of music. I believe God has given me a second chance, and I have every desire to use my gifts to glorify my King and bring souls to Him."

GAVIN NELSON is City of David's incredibly talented twenty-three year old drummer. He loves life and music and has been playing drums for about thirteen years. His passion to live his life for and through God just keeps bringing him more exciting experiences and opportunities and he gives God all the glory. The most amazing part of his story is that he's never had a drum lesson in his life! He is currently a minister of music at Pentecostal Tabernacle of North Miami where he has been playing for the past 10 yrs. He has been part of numerous live recordings and has traveled with several different groups to minister. His influences are Buddy Rich, Steve Gadd, Dave Weckyl, Dennis Chambers and AAron Spears.

If you ask Gavin who he plays for, he will tell you, "I play for Jesus because He's the one who has given me my gift. He is my teacher and my provider."
