Audiences have been laughing with Kacey Jones for decades. She's been laughed at outside the Nashville city limits by the likes of People Magazine, USA Today, CMT & GAC Television, Entertainment Tonight, the nationally syndicated "Bob and Tom" radio show, and on NPR as Garrison Keillor's guest on "A Prairie Home Companion." With Kacey Jones, there 's a lot to laugh about. Currently, her original songs can be heard in the new television show, "Sordid Lives, The Series" which made its national debut on the LOGO Network in July, 2008.
Other recent projects include the soundtrack for the hilarious stage play, "Nipples to the Wind." As Music Supervisor, Kacey contributed 15 of 19 original songs on the "Nipples to the Wind" soundtrack CD, the follow-up to her previous comedy disc, "Every Man I Love is Either Married, Gay, or Dead...LIVE!" She can also render a ballad that'll break your heart, as heard on the critically acclaimed 2006 release, "Kacey Jones Sings Mickey Newbury." What's next? By popular demand, her new comedy CD is in the works, and will be released in early 2009.
Here's what the national media says about Kacey Jones:
"There's a long tradition of female country music-humorists, from Minnie Pearl and Judy Canova to Catherine Bach...and Kacey Jones fits right in. Bottom line: here's one Kacey who hasn't struck out!"--------Ralph Novak - PEOPLE Magazine
"The well-versed vocalist, famed for her work as an entertainer, songwriter, and producer, shows an eclectic range of influences..."Every Man I Love is Either Married, Gay, or Dead" is funny stuff that is intelligent and singable."
-------Music Connection Magazine - Los Angeles, CA
"Kacey Jones' 'You're the Reason Our Kids are Ugly' is a laugh-out-loud duet with Delbert McClinton."
----Country Weekly Magazine.
"Jones, known for her comedy albums and hanging out with Garrison Keillor at Lake Wobegon, breaks your heart on this exquisite disc ("Kacey Jones Sings Mickey Newbury"). Country blues have never been bluer, or more eloquent, and her seen-it-all voice is the perfect match for Newbury's poignant world view. Jones honors a singular talent as only another singular talent could."-------David Wiegand /San Francisco Chronicle
"Kacey is one of roots music's players most worthy of wider recognition. After tackling the works of one great American several years ago, producing the Kinky Friedman all-star tribute, "Pearls in the Snow," she's moved on to another great American, Mickey Newbury. On this set ("Kacey Jones Sings Mickey Newbury") Jones gives Newbury the interpretation he deserves. All roots fans need to check this out. Hot stuff."
-----Chris Spector / Midwest Record Recap
"Newbury's fabled lush lyrical talents lend themselves to Jones' lush musical interpretations. I'm not calling either of them a lush--just a union made in heaven."-----Kinky Friedman
"I can't hear 'What Will I Do' without tears coming to my eyes. I'm leery of tribute albums, but this is a good one. It's nice to see an artist who understands and appreciates the soul of Newbury's songs honoring him like this. Thanks, Kacey."
-------Kris Kristofferson
"If Roger Miller and Mae West had a wild affair, Kacey Jones would be their love child." ----Jonell Mosser /Recording Artist
