"Marty Falle, is an incredible American Country Bluegrass singer/songwriter and Nashville recording artist."
- Cashbox Magazine November 1, 2023

"I have presented bluegrass music in Australia since 1983 and I am often surprised when a new artist of the caliber of Marty Falle comes my way. He first came to my attention through his last two albums and I was very impressed. Not only does he write or co-write all his music but he backs it up with a solid lead vocal voice and a stellar cast of supporting musicians. Backing vocals by one of my very favorites, Dale Ann Bradley, is a winner every time. Three albums in one year - amazing. Marty Falle is the real deal."

The Relentless Bluegrass of Marty Falle: Horse racing has the Triple Crown, and baseball has its prestigious “batting the cycle,” but the music industry has yet to coin a phrase that captures the improbability of releasing three original chart-topping albums in a single year. If they did, Marty Falle, Bluegrass singer/ songwriter would wear the badge of honor for 2023 for "Kentucky Bluestar", "My Farm, My Bluegrass" and "Born Again Bluegrass". In 2024, Falle is not breaking stride, and has created 15 new original songs, a project called "Bluegrass Holy Land", released on March 1, 2024.

"Bluegrass Holy Land" is Falle's most unique Bluegrass album to date. The album begins with the emphatic "Holy Ghost Fire" and flows into Appalachia storyland with "Grampa's Jukebox". The album is greatly enhanced with female Bluegrass vocal phenom, Caroline Owens. "Never Loved Like This" features a duet with Falle and Owens, followed by Owens soaring soprano on "Cherokee Goddess". Owens joins Falle one more time on the the faith based song "Tiny Angels".

Additional Bluegrass spiritual works like "God Found A Woman" and "Have You Heard The Good Word" augment this powerful musical presentation. In addition, the album delivers bow scorching barn burners - "Rock-Ola Redemption", "Dance in the Hog Trough" and "Irish Wake".

Born Again Bluegrass

Marty Falle is on a roll. His last three Bluegrass albums have found remarkable success worldwide. His new album, the aptly named Born Again Bluegrass, follows suit. Released on November 18, 2023, it immediately shot up to the Number One slot on several worldwide album charts of all genres, including the APD Global Album Chart. Bluegrass radio programmers in France, Germany, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Italy and UK jumped on the new album on day one.

Granted, Falle’s decision to release a new record so closely on the heels of his last album, My Farm, My Bluegrass may seem somewhat unusual, especially considering the fact that that previous effort is still reigning high in the charts of many major bluegrass and roots publications. To be sure, it defies the usual popular protocol. Falle places his emphasis on writing entire albums rather than focusing solely on singles. He’s an extremely prolific songwriter, one who eschews cover songs in favor of his own original material. So too, he isn’t dependent on the major label machinery in order to share his efforts with the world, ensuring that he continues to produce his music strictly on his own terms.

The new album offers ample evidence of that philosophy and finesse. Once again, Falle varies the template while still staying true to the cultural components that inform and inspire each of his efforts. All 15 songs match quality with quantity, from the upbeat exuberance and rousing revelry of “Blue Blaze Breakdown, ““Bluegrass Boogeyman’,” Hillbilly Stomp” and “Lost Creek Revival,” to the sweet serendipity found in such songs as “Colorado,” “Ohio” and “Fades.”

According to Lee Zimmerman, author of Americana Music — Voices, Visionaries & Pioneers of An Honest Sound, a respected book that documents the paths taken by traditional American music, “My Farm, My Bluegrass offers reverence for the roots, while maintaining contemporary credence. Few musicians tap such varied sources so well.”

11/26/2023 – Marty Falle “Born Again Bluegrass” hits #1 on APD Top 50 Bluegrass Albums.

My Farm, My Bluegrass

My Farm, My Bluegrass reached Number One on the APD Global Radio Indicator Chart for All Genres on the day of its release. In fact, an astounding eight out of the Top 10 singles for APD Bluegrass Global Radio Indicator Chart were borne from My Farm, My Bluegrass. The album itself reached Number One on the APD Global Radio Indicator Chart for all genres for the week of 8/20 – 8/27 and entered the Top 20 Album Roots Music Chart at Number 19. My Farm, My Bluegrass" continued its reign at Number One on the APD Global chart for well over a month, clearing the way for Falle’s last two albums to enter the Top Five. At one point, Falle had three records in the APD Top Five.

The music itself reminds us that the present would not exist without the past. Although all the songs are originals, they pull from the stylistic strands of the Irish, Scottish and English folk music which found its way into American country and mountain music, courtesy of the early settlers who made their way to Appalachia and originated the music we know as Americana today.

The new album boasts several examples of Falle’s ability to bring past to present, and then forward towards the future. “Kentucky Sons of Ireland” and “Appalachia Irish Dance” form a bond to bluegrass’s early beginnings, sharing a spirited sentiment through an upbeat and exuberant approach. The archival sounds of “Kentucky Proud” share the pride of those who still live in those storied environs and helped make them what they are today. The lively “Big Barn Breakdown” evokes the sound of the gatherings that took place after the farm work was done and joy and jubilation gave cause for celebration.

Spirituality plays its role as well. “Praise the Lord and Pass the Gravy” and “Bluegrass Holy Land Breakdown” convey a sense of dedication and devotion that’s also found on the moving and memorable track “The Calling.” Falle quotes scripture, specifically Philippians 3:14, which inspires the faithful to press on towards finding the fulfillment that comes with worshiping the Lord. “It’s the core of my spiritual beliefs and what I am trying to achieve,” Falle says.”

Producer Jonatan Yudkin describes the album as “slick and contemporary but with all the elements of bluegrass,” and he commends Falle’s decision to delve further into the genre.

“Marty has found his place and taken it a step further,” praises Yudkin, adding, “He embodies the spirit of bluegrass, yet he doesn’t write typical songs which brings a fresh presentation to this style of music.”

Diversity defines the album. Starting with the sweet-sounding, “Kentucky Blue Star,” the tempo switches gears with “Daytona,” a double-time, rock-a-billy song about the thrill of a NASCAR race.

In “Ridin’” as well as “God Help this Workin’ Man,” – both songs about life on the road – the blend of instruments echoes the roar of an 18-wheeler barreling down the highway, while “Cherokee,” a ballad that starts with a guitar rake, slowly delivers a mournful tale about the Trail of Tears.

“Kentucky Blue Star,” from the album of the same name, climbed to the top of the charts. On August 1, it went to Number One on the Bluegrass Jamboree Top 100.

5/5/2023 - “Kentucky Bluestar” single was a top 10 hit, debuting @ #6 on The Bluegrass Today Singles Chart.

6/1/2023 - Falle selected for cover of The Bluegrass Standard Magazine

8/1/2023 - “Kentucky Bluestar reached #1 on the Bluegrass Jamboree Top 100

A history major in college, Falle enjoys writing songs that have a connection to historical events. “My song Renfro Valley Barn Dance is a tribute to Lily May Ledford, a claw hammer banjo and fiddle player from the late 1930s,” he says. “Lily May and the Coon Creek Girls were one of the first all-female string bands to appear on radio.” He quotes a lyric that underscores it all.

"Going down to Renfro to the bluegrass Holy Land
Lily May Ledford’s got an all-girl fiddle band
No need to worry pretty Baby, just take me by the hand
We’re going down to Renfro to the bluegrass Holy Land…"

Another of his songs, Appalachian River Song, is about the Prestonsburg, Kentucky bus crash in 1958. In addition, his composition, Bloody Coal, was largely inspired by the Harlan County Coal War in the 1930s.

The music lives up to the effort that went into it. The songs are rousing, flush with enthusiasm and down-home authenticity. Falle is clearly committed to making music that evokes both the style and the spirit of bluegrass basics while putting his own stamp on the sound as well.

Marty Falle Biography

History and heritage naturally go hand in hand, and the desire to preserve the former is generally maintained by preserving the latter. Singer, songwriter and musician Marty Falle knows that all too well. His connection to the traditional music of Appalachia was spawned from spending much of his time after graduating from college living in Kentucky, the place where bluegrass was born. Now living on a farm in Eastern Kentucky, he’s thoroughly absorbed the music, culture and influences of that storied region, and in the process, made them his own.

Falle’s producer, Grammy winner Jonathan Yudkin, sums it up succinctly. “Marty seeks stories, history, legends, and paths in creativity… His fresh sound comes from the fact that he is not trying to emulate bluegrass bands of the past or present. Instead, he is creating his songs out of his love of music, unfettered by the influence of other artists. That’s what I enjoy the most about working with him. His songs are always unpredictable and surprising…”

That, then, is the essence of an artist who’s not only impacted by history and heritage, but one who effectively moves those foundations forward as well. He’s an Appalachian original and a dedicated contributor to Americana music in general.
