MUSIC from the contemporary heart: Nouveau Folk, Acoustic, Rock, Pop with Jazz, Blues, Celtic and Latin influences. Clear vocals intertwine with guitars, keyboards, solid drums, percussion and lush harmonies. The direction each song takes is unconventional, yet accessible. Melodic and poetic, music blends with unique rhythms to inspire inward reflection, outward expression and harmony in living.

ROOTS Shelley is a child of the Southwest with music in her blood and spirit. What budded in Albuquerque, New Mexico with records, radio, piano and choral singing, culminated in a 3-year stint as lead singer for the locally and regionally-known band, Sub Culture, and the release of their independent recordings. On to Nashville, Boulder, the Silicon Valley, CA and Phoenix her songwriting bloomed and expanded into the many directions you hear in her music today.
NOW Home in Albuquerque, Shelley plays live regionally, both solo and with the Shelley Barratt Band. She is currently working on her sophomore album, Water from Heaven.
Shelley’s voice has a soothing effect, offering a rare level of intimacy to the listener. She has been in bands, drummed, sang back-up for various artists in many locales, and has created music for modern dance, special occasions and visual media with acoustic guitars, percussion and piano. A LIFETIME MUSICIAN indeed!
