Biography
Auger Bane crawled from South London’s primoridal ooze into the sunshine of early summer 2005 led by lead guitarist, Darren Beasley. Drummer Chris Mee, bass player Ross Mcleod & rythym guitarist Shane Carpenter had made much noise together for some time in conspiracy and blend with Darren and they were drafted in to complete the musical line-up.
As the band began to form Beasleys music into something of their own, the search for a singer began. Darren was introduced to Daniel Shepard, lead singer with occasional Merton rockers Sweetleaf via mutual alcoholics annonymous attendees or 'friends' as they're sometimes better known. Invited to a jam session with the rest of the band, something clicked straightaway and the 1st session ended with 2 near complete songs still featured in the live set today.
In the late summer of 2005 the 4 track scream sessions demo featuring the songs dragonfly, black wine, the long walk & keep us strong was recorded during a long and arduous night for £40 with the assistance of red bull, red eyes, stella artois and some of the worst recording equipment known to man. With only two small gigs under their belt, Auger Bane entered Suttons battle of the bands 2005. Three heats later the band were crowned winners, with a showcase gig plus recording with the prestigous sir Harry Cowell their prize, the epic track ‘the long walk’ being the result of the sessions.
In the last few weeks of 2006, a 4-track ep produced by the band, featuring title track ‘house of the scorpion’, ‘the long walk’, ‘skynful’ and ‘dragonfly was made available via myspace and at gigs to preceed the recording of their debut album ‘on wings of fallen rock’.
Early in 2007 Ross Macleod having stated his desire to hang up his beard and bass once a replacement could be found, left Auger Bane, his place now taken by the mighty Max Torres, a mental Brazilian found wandering around Streatham telling everyone how to say 'Robert Trujillo' properly. Also leaving Auger Bane in spring 2007 to pursue his own projects was rythym guitarist Shane ‘wig’ Carpenter, following this unexpected departure the band decided to remain as a four-piece having reached a new musical and personal tightness.
As the band approach autumn 2007, recording on the debut album ‘on wings of fallen rock’ has been completed, an incendiary performance at the bulldog bash navigated and a satisfactory start to the premier league football season enjoyed.
