Radio Programmers Newsletter: January 3, 2007

January 3, 2007 · Filed Under Newsletters, Radio Programmers Newsletter

The response to our radio programmers contest was so strong last month that our sponsor GoMusic1.com decided to sponsor our newsletter for January and extend the contest deadline.

GoMusic1.com is an innovative music scheduling software that schedules songs with absolute precision. It schedules your play list in the exact rotation you want; and schedules jingles, liners, voice tracks, promos and programs.

Throughout the month of January, AirPlay Direct and GoMusic1 will be running a contest for our radio station / programmer members. We will be awarding three prize packages in 3 different categories; 1 for terrestrial / commercial radio, 1 for webcasters and 1 for an open category web and terrestrial combined. The prize package in each category is a free 1 year license for use of the GoMusic1 station programming software. Each license is valued at $1,000.

If you are an AirPlay Direct radio member, your name has already been entered into this contest.   If you are not already a member, just visit www.AirPlayDirect.com to register and start using our free digital “broadcast-quality” music delivery service, and have your name entered into the contest. You can gain more opportunities to have your name entered in to the contest multiple times by doing the following:
• For every artist who registers with AirPlay Direct and indicates that they were referred by you, your name gets entered an additional time.
• For every radio station that registers with AirPlay Direct and indicates that they were referred by you, your name gets entered an additional two times.
• Every time a label registers with a roster of 5 or more artists and indicates that they were referred by you, your name will be entered an additional five times.

Keep in mind, our digital delivery and electronic press kit services are free to artists and record labels. Random drawings will determine the 3 winners. The more referrals you have the better your chances are… good luck!

Some Folks Still Believe in the Power of Music: Artists Give Back to Listener Sponsored Radio

Radio has long supported music and has been a major force in breaking new artists. Now a group of artists have gotten together to give back to radio by launching Texamericana - a non-profit internet record store that generates a $1 to $5 donation from every CD sold for a public radio station of the purchaser’s choice. The effort has been lead by Barbara Kooyman, who was nominated for a Grammy in 1986 with her band Timbuk3 for the song “The Future’s So Bright I
Gotta Wear Shades.”

On the Fourth of July, 2006, Texamericana opened its internet doors. (www.texamericana.org). Already the Asylum Street Spankers, Ponty Bone, The Cornell Hurd Band, Johnny Degollado y Su Conjunto, Big Frank Gomez, Greezy Wheels, Sara Hickman, Kieran Kane Kevin Welch and Fats Kaplin, Barbara Kooyman, Lightning Red, Lost Country, Willie Nelson, Slim Richey, Calvin Russell and Michelle Shocked have already consigned recordings for Texamericana to sell.

Artists and Labels are paid a wholesale price of their own choosing for consigned CDs with $1 to $5 in proceeds above wholesale being donated to the non-profit radio station of the purchaser’s choice anywhere around the country. This enables Recording Artists to help create funding for any non-profit radio station through the simple act of consigning CDs and designating a portion of the sale as a donation therefrom.

Ask not what Radio can do for you, ask what YOU can do for Radio.

AirPlay Direct proudly supports Texamericana by providing free digital delivery services to radio for the organization and their participating artists and record labels.

New AirPlay Direct system feature. We are pleased to announce a much requested new feature to the AirPlay Direct system. You now have the option to deliver / receive your “broadcast-quality” tracks as .wav files or 320k mp3s; songs can now be posted in both formats.

Doc “MistaBluesman” Quinn

Doc’s fifty two years of playing the guitar (1955 - 2007) reflects a Soulful Memphis Melody, then drags you right thru the middle of the Bakersfield Country Sound and tops that off like whipped cream with some Mississippi Delta Blues. Doc’s style of Blues is of his own concoction and his release of “Funky Country Blues” is a fine example of Doc’s Funky, Country and Blues sound.

Doc travels the USA still today playing his Blues guitar while teaching folks of all ages how to play and love the guitar using his easy as your ABC’s guitar teaching method.

MistaBluesman’s new up coming Cd “Me & Mr. Quinn” reflecting his late Father’s (Buddy “Smokey” Quinn) works as well as some new tracks by Doc is scheduled for release in early 2007.
