Biography

5th Gear is a rockin country band consisting of five very talented teenagers who are in overdrive and want to be heard. With unremarkable talent, enthusiasm, and charisma, this group of teens are quoted to be “The Next Generation of Country Music”.

The youngest member of the band is also the loudest. Allie Walker is the lead singer and is just 15 years old. This young immensely talented girl is an amazing performer who has to date won the Canadian Country Open Singing Contest, Ontario Open Country Singing Contest and the Northern Open Country Singing Contest. Allie has shared the stage with many of Canada’s finest country acts such as, Jamie Warren, Adam Gregory, Beverley Mahood, Michelle Wright and Lisa Brokop. One of Allies greatest memories was when she opened for Sawyer Brown at the London Country Jam.

The lead guitar is best described as phenomenal. Spencer McAra is an exceptionally talented guitar player who has been playing guitar most of his life but seriously for the past ten years. At the age of 18, Spencer puts himself out there and in a league of his own. With his pure love and enthusiasm for music his career is set in stone. Spencer has traveled across Ontario over the past three years strumming his guitar for audiences, big and small.

Backing the band with his solid beat is Rod Williams. Rod is as good as any adult on drums (if not better). At the age of nine, Rod was already performing on stage as he played the drums for his father’s band. He has performed at many impressive venues including the Royal York Hotel and has shared the stage with many top notch acts such as Crowbar, Lighthouse, and the 2007 CMT Karaoke Star, Crystal Gage. At the tender age of 16, he is sure to catch the attention of any audience!

On bass guitar is Matt Jones. Matt started his music career playing the trumpet but by the time he was 14 he had mastered the bass guitar. From that moment on Matt’s desire to impress people with his natural ability and his personality has been untouchable. Matt’s laid back attitude has allowed Matt to develop into an outstanding musician.

Last but definitely not least, the newest Star of the show, Brett Coelho. Everyone loves Brett. He truly allows all ages to love 5th Gear. Brett’s the fiddler in the band. Every audience is wowed by this young mans fiddling abilities. His fiddle brings every crowd to their feet. When Brett is not playing fiddle he plays rhythm guitar.

These young crowd pleasing and enthusiastic musicians have created their own sound and won the hearts of fans young and old. These teens have mastered the ability to bring individual talent together to make the ultimate country music show. A music fan simply cannot pass by without stopping to take in the sights and sounds coming from the 5th Gear stage.
