CD Review from Shockwave Magazine
Within the first few moments of pushing play, I knew I had in my hands and radiating through my ears a compilation of tunes which completely defines unique and amazing! 8 ohms band has created an album harmonizing old school with new, in such an original way, it's incomparable to today's music. A true rarity to say the least, this music could appease any person with even the smallest amount of an eclectic taste for music.
A fusion of funk and soul are at the very core of each song's heart. Touches of big band, hip-hip, and reggae pulsate through-out... I think it's literally impossible to sit entirely still while groovin' to ANY ONE of the 12 tracks included. Whether your laid back by the pool, in the car with the windows down, socializing with friends/family, or are just having some relaxation time, 'Superheavy' (which is scheduled to drop July 9th) is sure to be this summer's #1 go-to album.

8 Ohms CD Release Show - Surf and Rhythm
The Whiskey was sold out on Saturday, fully packed to the brim with folks eager to hear the big sound of The 8 Ohms Band, supporting the release of their new record Superheavy. Opening for 8 Ohms was Bumpin’ Uglies, who sold out their own CD release party for Free Candy, a few weeks earlier.
The Uglies have their own style of reggae and ska infused rock, and they set the mood perfectly. Three members of The 8 Ohms Band played the set. Indeed, this was the first time since recording Free Candy that all recording members to the LP were present and accounted for according to lead vocalist and guitar-man Brandon Hardesty.
8 Ohms started their set with some off the wall antics of the Oriental persuasion (see the pics), then went straight into their set… With a 4-man brass section, guitar, bass and drums of all shapes and kinds. What fun.
Funk and soul poured off the stage as the horns squealed and the saxes screamed. If your into jazz and blues and wanna catch a show with a new age spin to it, then The 8 Ohms Band is just what your looking for.
You can catch 8 Ohms this weekend at Artscape in Baltmore between 2-3p this Saturday, or Sunday at the 1st Annual Molly’s Mission Bull & Oyster Roast to benefit the Anne Arundel Medical Center Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with Sweet Leda.
The Uglies can be found playing the federal house in Annapolis on Thursday, The Point in Fells Point on Friday, The Rockfish in Annapolis on Saturday, and Jellyfish Joe’s on Sunday (phew, steep hill). Get out there and support them, check them out, because our local bands are really getting their game on.
