Biography
Since the band's formation in the summer of 2002, 8 Om has continued to be a mainstay on the Colorado rock circuit. With two EPs under their belt and their power packed live performances, these Colorado kids are coming in strong as one of rocks most promising, up and coming bands.
With a sound that far exceeds that an independent "local band", 8 Om, has played some of the largest club and theater venues in Colorado, drawing numbers well in the hundreds as well as performing with many a national band including the likes of Crossfade, Strata, V.A.S.T., 30 Seconds To Mars, and The Revolution Smile. Putting a few small, self booked tours under their belt has helped these boys to build a fan base in the mid-west regionWith their intense and seemless live show, this is one young band who shows much promise in the rock world.
March of 2004, the band entered 4th Street Recording Studios, Santa Monica, CA to begin work on their first EP, entitled The Pink Of Condition. With producer Donat Kazarinoff (Incubus, Alien Ant Farm, and CKY) at the helm, the boys in 8 Om crafted a brilliant collection of six tracks that sparkle with sincerity. The Pink of Condition helped the band to gain radio play, establish a following, and begin attraching industry attention. April of 2005, 8 Om hit the studio once again, this time with producer/engineer Steve Avedis, to begin work on a small collection of tracks entitled Between Consiousness and Dreams. A few remixes from their 2002 promo were also added. The EP was released only as an internet download and marked the end of an era for the band and opened the door begin embarking into new songwriting territory.
Shortly after 8 Om would part ways with long time bassist, T.J. Monell and drummer, Aaron Knight. Ex-Nox members Zach Newton (bass) and Logan Rietfors (drums) soon joined the band and the result was a creative spark that took the band to new musical heights. With a new record already in the works (due out in May) 8 Om is sure to continue their climb.
Through their constant progression in songwriting and shear determination, 8 Om continues to push the thresholds of modern rock music. Moving between sereen, ethreal moments and heart-filled, pounding rock, 8 Om brings their sound full force. Singer Brian Kato's penetrating vocals speak worlds, as he delivers a firey assult of emotion through melody. Blending mainstream hooks with guitar driven choruses, aggressive breakdowns and heavy grooves, 8 Om has captured the essence of solid, heavy melodic rock. This rock definetly "ain't noise pollution".
