Good Morning New Orleans
• Kermit Ruffins (Arr. by Emily Fredrickson)
• Nisab Publishing (BMI), The Kermit Ruffins Music Company (BMI)
Notes by Irvin Mayfield:
Tony Bennet's version of "I Left My Heart in San Francisco", inspired Ruffins to create this
song about his hometown. Bennet met Ruffins years ago through a mutual friend who owned
an Italian restaurant. Both crooners from two different generations have a knack for singing
standards and cooking good food. To bring to life the meaning of this song producer Irvin
Mayfield combines the 18-piece big band with a chamber string ensemble. It was Ruffins' aim
to have this song play on every alarm clock in the world.
