Sabain Cymbals. SABIAN is all about designing and creating cymbals and sounds that are right for you.
A Congress of Treasons was produced by Elisabeth Williamson, of Gatorbone Records & Studios in St. Augustine.

Sure, it’s rare to find a woman producing a man’s record in this biz, and I believe the music suffers from that rarity.

This my sixth studio record. My last three were produced by Gurf Morlix.

Gurf sings on the record, and some tracking was done in his studio. Otherwise the musicians here are my core people, mostly jazz cats, who helped me earn my bones.
There’s not an electric instrument on the album, though I feel weird calling it “an acoustic record.” ‘Cause it really doesn’t sound like an acoustic record. Not to me, at least.

I wrote all the songs except for one by Amanda Shires, and another by Jack White. The Amanda Shires song was something I heard her sing at SXSW in 2013. It rolled me over. After her set I told her what a great song I thought it was. “Yea,” she said, “that one wasn’t much fun to write.”

There are music videos on Youtube for “Breakfast in the Gulag” and “Basement in her Heart."

The bookends to the album are poems. Yea, I know: poetry? But art and poetry have been my primary focus of the last sixteen months. This record just worked its way out of me. Like a splinter.

None of my first five records took more than two weeks to record. This one took nine months. Like a baby.

I tried hard not to make any of the songs harmless.
FCC alert: Track 1 (a poem) has the word "****" in the last line
