Old Waltzes and Skylights
Old Waltzes and Skylights
Written by Michael G. Ronstadt & Aaron Nathans

Feel the ground shake
Rain falling straight
Look out below
Creeks overflow

Fields now small lakes
Ducks fly away
A red angry moon
Night’s coming soon

Dark folds into night
Blinding all daylight
Trees swallowed deep into sleep

city in sight
mines bring the light
The eyes on the cars
As bright as the stars

Unlikely highlights
Old waltzes and skylights
Judging with fright
creatures go hide
they feel so broken
chemical tokens
raining on them
from an old smoke bellow
acid burns freely
the veins we all carry
parading in secret
the end near in throws
carry this burden
humanity’s hurting
time to give up
this stubborn old road

Bide time in patience
Fruit turned to raisins
Wind becomes sound
Old comes around
