Biography for Driving Vegas:

Driving Vegas was formed in early 2009. Front man Zach Blessing and drummer Kevin Whitaker came together to form a unique piano and vocal driven band. As they began to lay down the foundation for many of their current song list, the hunt for the remaining band members waged on. Bassist Dave Thompson was next to join Driving Vegas in late February and after filtering through a few guitarists Nate Fowler landed the gig in July ‘09. Greg Guenther was last to join Driving Vegas in late September of 2009. Driving Vegas is soulful driven vocals with an alternative edge. Meshing the R&B styling of Jon Legend and the pop/rock feel of Gavin Degraw, Driving Vegas is a fresh new sound creating their own dynamic genre


Zach Blessing (Vocals) - has been singing for as long as he can remember. When Zach was 15 years old he started singing in his first band. Zach really discovered his love for music when he use to borrow his grandparents Ed Sullivan Shows on tape and watch the musical performances over and over. Zach made a career playing weddings but wanted to create his own project when he witnessed the success and the fun his singer-songwriter brother Adam was having. This really gave Zach the drive to get out there. Zach’s main influences include: The Temptations, Gavin Degraw, John Legend, U2, and James Taylor.

Dave Thompson (Bass) - has been playing bass for about 9 years, but his musical experience takes him back to singing in the church choir at age 5. To get to this point he has traveled through numerous instruments and musical groups of all shapes and styles, from trombone in a symphony to steel pans in a Caribbean steel drum band. He holds a degree in Music History from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and hopes to someday be able to use that degree for good rather than evil. His musical influences as a player come mostly from the blues/R&B scenes in the 60s and 70s, but his favorite concerts to attend are ska and reggae shows. The truth is, as long as there is good beer available at the venue you will find him in the crowd at just about any show.

Nate Fowler (Guitar) - has been playing the guitar for 11 years. Nate majored in Elementary Education at Mansfield University and now teaches Kindergarten during the week. Nate studied guitar with Dan Chernosky, a Berkley graduate who played guitar for Frank Sinatra Jr. He also studied with Bryan Murphy, a Berkley Masters student. Nate’s real passion is music. His influences include, Stevie Ray, Charlie Christian, Bryan Setzer, and many Others. Nate also enjoys fishing in his spare time.

Kevin Whitaker (Drums) - has been playing drums for 11 years. As a kid Kevin really enjoyed the Beach Boys. He loved their style of playing so he decided to pick up the drums and learn to play. Kevin played in two serious bands prior to starting up DrivingVegas with Singer Zach Blessing. Kevin has a true passion for the drums. His influences include The Dave Matthew's Band and Tool.
