Cisco Records in Japan give Analogue Mindfield psychedelic dubbing Space Rock 5 Stars![MAR'07]

Road Records give Analogue Mindfield the thumbs up again![MAR'07]

"analogue mindfield are a dublin based outfit who between them have been involved with the subtonics, keltic posse and resident dj in firehouse skank, the ablum is a really excellent mix of bass heavy digital dub, ambient drum n bass, trip hop and space age reggae, the album shifts from the early orb like ambient dub sounds to some much more hard hitting and more uptempo drum n bass led sounds, a really fine follow up to their digital brainwave album from 2006."

Record Collector aren't interested in Terrence McKenna but think Analogue Mindfield are fun![MAR'07]

recordcollectormag.com"He's back! Terrence McKenna was last seen backing the brilliant Re:Evolution trance by The Shamen in 1993. Now this bonkers, post Hippie pseud appears in the spacey 'Revolutionary Heartbeat' from Analogue Mindfields new double album, released on The Orbs record label. The track is surrounded by reggae, dub and Drum and Bass that serves as a commune anthem, a festival soundtrack and a call for a tribal gathering all at once. it's a throwback of sorts, but unlike Mckenna, this is actually fun! Pressed on red and blue vinyl, the record is just limited to 500 vinyl copies, with the entire fourth side featuring exclussive material not found on the CD issue, specifically the instrumentals Zak, Rise up, Cities got and attitude and Reckless behaviour. Verdict a fun 3/5"

Boomkat Recommend 'A Fine Adjustment of Time'[MAR'07]

Dub enthusiasts from the emerald isle, Analogue Mindfield's sound is a vibrant mix of all things low-end - taking fistfuls of reggae, soundsystem and even (whisper it...) trip-hop, then moulding it into a vibrant whole that fizzes along with guileless charm. Made up of pseudonyms galore, Analogue Mindfield count Snapper J, Gizzy D, Lariman, Yolazy and Kitty B amongst their ranks - with a ruck of collaborators adding further names (Tim Bran, Eric Rico, Electric Forgiveness...) to the mix. Housed in a cover that evokes images of Gilbert and George (albeit sans the faeces), 'A Fine Adjustment Of Time' opens through the skanking tones of 'Reckless Behaviors' - a track that cleverly exhumes elements of 'Ghost Town', then re-spins them within a haunted dancehall of chunky beats and dislocated vocals. Ditching the laid back vibes of the opening, next up is 'The City's Got An Attitude' wherein the Analogue target it centered squarely on the drum & bass firmament as Kitty B adds the sweet highs for Lariman's baritone lows. Moving on from here, next up is 'Guernica Dub', with some Trojan worthy digital machinations, before 'Zak' struts into the room trailing some 20ft tall funk and Motown influences galore for a vitamin C slice of Stereo MC-style business. Elsewhere, 'Rudy' is a spacious vista of slow-mo reggae, 'Revolutionary Heartbeat' is a sample fest of the highest order, whilst 'On Her Majesty's Secret Pissup' is the sound of Benny Hill directed by Tarantino. Time gentleman!

Connected give 'A fine adjustment of Time 5/5![MAR'07]

Review by Connor Smith

"Due to time constraints I've only had a chance to give this record a few quick listens. That said, I was so impressed I simply had to recommend it. They've progressed considerably in the short time since 'Digital Brainwave', their general sound becoming more polished while retaining the D'n'B, trip hop, roots and general leftfield mash-up vibe they invented. Lead single looks set to be 'The Citys got an Attitude' a D'n'B number with jazzy sax and top notch vocals courtesy of Eric Riko and Kitty B. There's an eclectic range of instruments on this album, 'On her majestys secret pissup' is particularly loopy but works well, incorporating rock n' roll guitars and hammond on what is ultimately a D'n'B tune. 'Rise up' is perhaps the best Irish reggae tune I've heard! What's striking about this album and what marks them apart is the sheer quality of the drum programming troughout. Verdict - Impressive 5/5

A Polish view on 'A Fine Adjustment of Time' from Gaz-Eta Magazine![MAR'07]

To właśnie ta piątka wraz z kilkoma zaproszonymi do studia gośćmi odpowiada za debiutancki album Analogue Mindfield - "A Fine Adjustment Of Time"[READ MORE].

Drop-D Review/interview by Nicola Marie O'Riordain[MAR'07]

A Fine Adjustment of Time Kicking off with a mellow reggae beat along with some ambient jazz and intricately weaved harmonica “Reckless Behaviour” is the first track on Analogue Mindfield’s second album “A Fine Adjustment of Time.” According to Analogue Mindfield musical genius Gizzy D, the second album took “three months of Fridays and several short emails to put together.” “Were there any hiccups along the way,” I ask. “Well considering it was recorded in the bottle bank studios there was quite a lot of hiccupping...but none of the bad sort. Actually it was the most painless recording session any of us have ever been involved in. Although a week before mastering we were finishing recorded Revolutionary Heartbeat and I wasn't sure if there'd be enough time to get the clearance on the Terrence McKenna spoken word piece, but Lorenzo Hagerty (who is archiving some of Terrence’s stuff) saved the day...actually when I was asking for permission to use the sample he said Terrence would be delighted for us to use it and that he might even send a few elves from beyond the grave to help the record along!”[READ MORE]

Terrence McKenna to feature on 'A FIne Adjustment of Time'[Oct'06]

Analogue Mindfield are delighted to announce the inclusion of a 3 minute sample of Terrence McKenna into their track 'Revolutionary Heartbeat. On Saturday night, January 16, 1999, Terence McKenna gave one of his last lectures at the legendary Entheobotany Series by the foot of the pool at the Chan Kha Hotel near the Mayan ruins of Palenque. There were about 100 people sitting in the moonlight, listening to the lowing of cattle in the distance and the occasional chatter of the howler monkeys in the trees nearby. This was Terence doing what he did best, which was to challenge all of us to stretch our minds to their far limits and then expand them once again. Analogue Mindfield would like to thank Lorenzo Hagerty from Matrix Masters, who are podcasting many of Terrence Mckennas lectures, for the kind use of the sample...let's hope Terrence sends a few elves for a listen!

Samantha Kim review of 'Digital Brainwave'[JUN'06]

Analogue Mindfield: "Digital Brainwave" - This mind blowing twosomes album is set to shake the industry as Analogue Mindfield have blended elements of trip-hop, reggae, drum and bass and ambient. The result is this uncontrolable album release-"Digital Brainwave". This catchy, funky album - digital brainwave has a hiphop/jazz ripple effect going through it. The album is full of amazing sounds, beats and soul from the charmingly constructed track 'Crazy' to the trippy beats of 'Soundshack'. The album is clearly influenced by the likes of Bob Marley, The Buzzcocks, The Prodigy and Freestylers. Thoroughly intense and a pleasure to my ears!

Analogue Mindfield collaborating with keyboard player from The Who[JUN'06]

Digital Brainwave album of the issue in this months Connected Magazine[JUN'06]

Selected as album of the issue in this months Connected Magazine, Digital Brainwave got 3/3 stars. Heres the review 'This is an album best reviewed as a whole piece of work rather than take track by track. Stand in front of your favourite abstract painting, knock back a bottle of absinthe and let your mind be freeeeeeeeee as this elegant collection of tripped out ambient reggae and drum 'n'bass takes you down the musical road less travelled. Think early David Holmes, with the jagged edges filed smooth by less pretentious production, add a mild dose of Tricky and swallow with a sizeable dash of originality three times a day and you're somewhere approaching the feel of this album. You can sample it either of two ways, sit back and let the whole thing wash over you as you zone in and out of six am insomnia, or take your time with each track and find a different element and a whole range of nuances with each listen. Fav tracks for me would have to be the first two tracks on the album, Upstart and The Abyss, stylish, seventies tinged funk laid over a decidedly not of this world chilled out mellow beat. Definately not for the populist militia, be brave and give it a listen.' - Jude Schweppe

Sunday Tribune album review - Una Mullally[MAY'06]

These 12 ultra-easy tracks from Dublin-based Analogue Mindfield are perfect background hang-out tunes. They all seem to blend into a hazy stream after a while, but who cares? The record blazes into action on 'Crazy' with effortless vocals that follow up on the party track 'Dublin Thing'.
