Biography

The Christmas season is a special time of year. For most of us, the holiday season involves being with family and friends, coming together, and creating memories that last for years. But, for too many children in the foster system, these moments that make the season a special time are foreign to them – at most, they might dream of having these moments and creating these memories one day when they have a family again. Some of those children will, like I was, be adopted or otherwise find loving families. Others will not be as fortunate and may not have a real chance to experience the meaning, joy, and warmth of the season. That’s where the Alliance for Children’s Rights comes in – to help foster children, to help make their lives better, and, putting it simply, to make a difference.

I’ve always been a fan of Christmas music and the other music of the season – the traditional songs and the new songs, the songs looking back, and the songs looking forward and celebrating the start of a new year. And, as someone who was lucky enough to be adopted at birth and raised by two loving parents, I feel a special obligation to help children who were not so fortunate. Therefore, I thought that we at Blue Élan should do something in our way to help foster children and to add our own music to the season. Many of our artists – and many other artists – joined us in this endeavor. I’d like to thank all of those artists for sharing their original songs, new interpretations of some classics, and new versions of some less familiar nuggets.
