BRENT BURNS RELEASES NEW CD

Legendary Gulf Coast singer, songwriter and humorist, Brent Burns is proud to release his ninth CD of original music, “Don’t Come Knockin’ If The Tiki Hut’s Rockin’.” The CD includes co-writes with former BMI vice president, Roger Sovine, and Songwriters Hall of Fame member, Bobby Weinstein (“Hurts So Bad,” “Goin’ Out Of My Head,” ‘I’m On The Outside Looking In”). Burns will be performing many of these new songs at the National Shrimp Festival in Gulf Shores, AL October 15 and 16.

Burns last CD, “I’ve Got A Beach In My Backyard” includes “Retired,” a duet with multiple Grammy Award winner, Ray Stevens. That CD and its title song were named Trop Rock Music CD and song of the year in 2010. Burns was also named 2010 Songwriter of the Year. He is nominated as 2011 Trop Rock Music Songwriter of the Year and Entertainer of the Year. The awards will be presented in Key West, FL on November 4.

Burns has been all over the national scene with his songs and videos, “Pain At The Pump,” a response to $4 a gallon gas prices and “Drill, Drill, Drilll,” a response to the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. After the videos were posted on You Tube, CNN and Headline News (HLN) aired the videos and interviewed Burns on air. No stranger to musical notoriety, Burns burst onto the music scene nationally in 1979 with the second highest debuting single of that year, “Cheaper Crude Or No More Food.” Paul Harvey played the song three times on his nationally syndicated radio show. This song was the only song ever played by Harvey.

Burns, a Purple Heart awarded veteran, was the first entertainer to perform for troops overseas after the tragedy of 9/11. A portion of the proceeds from his CD sales go to charitable causes including Habitat for Humanity, the American Cancer Society and the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo.

Burns continues a busy performance schedule playing over 200 dates this year for corporate events, festivals, concerts and clubs. To learn more about Burns go to his web site, www.brentburns.com.

BRENT BURNS WINS MUSIC AWARDS

Legendary Gulf Coast singer, BMI songwriter and humorist, Brent Burns won three awards at the 2010 Trop Rock Music Awards presented in Key West, FL on Friday, November 5. Burns won awards for songwriter of the year and CD and song of the year for his “I’ve Got A Beach In My Backyard.” This CD, as well as Burns’ other seven CD’s, was recorded in Nashville with producer Jim Allison.

The awards were presented by the Margarita MAFIA, an organization of musicians, fans and artists in alliance to promote Trop Rock music. “Trop Rock” music has been around for years, but the term “Trop Rock” is just now catching on to describe a genre of music defined as “a mixture of rock-n-roll and country music with an island theme and lyrics depicting a laid-back lifestyle.”

Based in Gulf Shores, AL, Burns has been all over the national scene this year with his song and video, “Drill, Drill, Drilll,” a response to the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. After the video was posted on You Tube, Headline News (HLN) used the video in their coverage of the oil spill crisis.

Burns is well known to audiences for his seasonal classic, “If It’s Snowbird Season, Why Can’t We Shoot ‘Em?”. The song returns to radio stations along the Gulf coast as the snowbirds make their yearly appearance. Burns’ other radio successes include “I’m Goin’ Ugly Early Tonight” recorded by Nashville recording artist Cledus T. Judd and the Christmas favorite, “Santa’s Gone NASCAR.”

Burns, a decorated veteran, was the first entertainer to perform for troops overseas after the tragedy of 9/11.

To learn more about the Margarita MAFIA, visit their website, www.margaritamafia.com.

Songwriter Brent Burns Drills BP
HUMORIST BRENT BURNS DRILLS BP

“Drill, drill, drill, but don’t spill, spill, spill” is songwriter and humorist Brent Burns’ response to the BP oil spill. Doing what he does best, Burns has made a scathing indictment of the oil giant in his song and music video, “Drill, Drill, Drill.” Based on the Gulf of Mexico, Burns took the frustration and anger he and many Gulf Coast residents are feeling and put it to music. “I had to do something and writing songs is what I do. After I finished the song, it cried out for a video so we put one together and posted it on YouTube.” The video can also be viewed directly on Burns’ website, www.brentburns.com. While on his site, Burns hopes people will download the song. All proceeds from these sales will be donated to Gulf Coast wildlife rescue organizations.

This isn’t the first time Burns has taken on the oil companies. In 2008, Burns’ song “Pain At The Pump,” garnered thousands of hits on YouTube and CNN. CNN used the song and interviewed Burns for their special on rising fuel costs.

A Purple Heart awarded veteran, Burns was the first entertainer to perform for troops overseas after the tragedy of 9/11. A portion of the proceeds from his other CD sales go to charitable causes including Habitat for Humanity, the American Cancer Society and the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo.

Burns continues a busy performance schedule playing over 200 dates this year for corporate events, festivals, concerts and clubs. To learn more about Burns go to his web site, www.brentburns.com.
