Maggie Valley
When I was a kid my parents took me to an old ghost town called Maggie Valley in NC. It was one of my first experiences being in an old western town filled with gun fighters and outdoor drama going on. I somehow got separated from my parents and was wandering around thinking well this is it, I’m on my own. That experience of feeling abandoned inspired Maggie Valley.

Maggie Valley

Way down in Maggie Valley I stood there all alone,
I climbed to the top of the mountain, I looked around and everyone was gone
She told me that she’d be here she’d wait for me all day
The place it looked like a ghost town, she was gone and left me to pay

Chorus:
Whoa Maggie Valley, can’t you hear me call
I’m calling out the name of my dear true love
Who left me all alone to die

That coyote howls in the moon light you can hear that lonesome sound
As it echoes through the valley I lie hear cold on the ground
If I wake to see the morning I hope that I might see
The one that left me lonely lying right next to me

Chorus:
Whoa Maggie Valley, can’t you hear me call
I’m calling out the name of my dear true love
I’m calling out the name of my dear true love
