Biography
Award winning, internationally touring, performing songwriter James Hurley's music is a highly original, seductive blend of styles that reaches well beyond the traditional scope of "acoustic singer/songwriter”.
His current solo release “Tempest in a teacup” reinforces his well-deserved reputation as a consistently compelling artist whose music is a reflection of the life he lives.
This album covers a lot of musical territory. Ranging from the driving intensity of “Mountain”, a dark indictment of modern mankind’s insatiable desire for expansion at whatever cost, through the whimsical imagery of “The vampire song “, which provides a wry view of a lifetime in the music industry, to the beautiful simplicity of “Jealous of the Moon”; a poignant melody set against an elegant backdrop of guitar and flute. Then there’s the title track, which manages to address the role humanity plays in the universe in just under three minutes….
James tours almost constantly, performing at colleges, theatres, and both public and private concert venues throughout the West and Southwest U.S. and the U.K.
