After witnessing many global warming events in the U.S. beginning with Hurricane Katrina in 2005, I began writing "The Water is Rising" when 'Tropical Storm' Irene devastated the State of Vermont in August 2011, destroying over 200 bridges and leaving over a dozen communities completely isolated for weeks.
The song and video encapsulated many of my feelings at the time about the realities of not only global warming, but of love fleeting and the feeling of being imprisoned by choices that we don't always consciously make, but for which we are often left dealing with the consequences.
