Biography

It is really no surprise that John would pursue a creative outlet for expressing his life experiences through songwriting. His father, Country Johnny Mathis, was a successful singer/songwriter in his own right with cuts that ranged from artists like George Jones to Elvis Costello (seven Country Music Hall of Fame Inductees have recorded his father's music). This made songwriting and music publishing a natural transition and passion for John that led to his own successes in music, As a publisher and songwriter John has garnered cuts by The Florida Boys, The Inspirations, The Crist Family, The Wilburns, The Pfeifers, Allison Speer and many others.

John's life and musical influences have given him years of experience in the Southern Gospel and Country Music industries not only in the areas of songwriting and music publishing but other areas such as radio, publicity, A&R and recording. Some of those years were spent working with labels such as Homeland Entertainment, label home for such renowned Southern Gospel artists as The Cathedrals, The Speer Family and The Florida Boys. Through a joint business venture with Brian Speer (The Avid Group) John has worked for clients such as Three Angels Broadcasting (the second largest Christian broadcasting network in the world) and the late Anthony Burger. Since 2009 John has worked with Mansion Entertainment in the areas of music publishing, press & publicity, radio, and recording.

Another family influence in John's life has been ministry. His grand-father was a church-planter and minister for 43 years, his father was a national evangelist and John has spent a number of years as an evangelist, pastor and worship director.

John's current work includes publishing, radio and recording endeavours with Mansion Entertainment and The Pathway Records while he continues to write, manage his music catalogs and share the message of the Gospel wherever the opportunity presents itself.
