The Mistakes I've Made

THE MISTAKES I’VE MADE

Oh I've been looking back not 'cause I'm paranoid
But to see the roads I've traveled down and those I did avoid
Oh I've been thinking 'bout and I've been wondering
Would I take a different highway or do them all again

Oh the time I know for changing things is now a little late
If it weren't for guilty emotions I would have nothing to relate
Guess I chalk it up to lessons learned and say
They're only mistakes I've made

You know what makes me mad you know what's really wrong
I just never noticed I'd taken you along
And it's funny how you never said a word
Guess you knew I would see for myself and never would have heard

Oh the time I know for thanking you has come a little late
It comes not as false gratitude or even saving face
I just thank you for your silence while I made
All the mistakes I made

It should come as no surprise to you that the man you helped become
Will carry on your silent truths and share them with his sons

Oh the time I know for changing things is now a little late
If it weren't for guilty emotions I would have nothing to relate
Guess I chalk it up to lessons learned and say
They're only mistakes I've made
