I Wouldn't Lay My Guitar Down
I Wouldn’t Lay My Guitar Down
During my time in Chicago in the mid 80s, I got to play with Big Chief, Eddie Clearwater. This is one of Eddie’s signature songs. I loved it then and I love it now. Sort of a take off on Johnny B. Goode, but way cooler. My guitar sort of stutters and spits in an angry way – I’m not sure I was really in control of it, something took hold of me. I hope Big Chief gets to hear this, and I hope it makes him smile. It’s a good uptempo song and it’s fun to play for a crowd.
