Biography
Former Grand Ole Opry, Louisiana Hayride, and Big D Jamboree singer/songwriter Jerry K. Green is celebrating his 83rd birthday a little early, releasing his second CD album, “NOW and THEN - Volume 2” on October 14, 2014. He turns 83 in December.

The album is available to Radio at AirPlayDirect, for download and/or physical CD purchase at CDBaby, for streaming at ReverbNation, and soon to be available for purchase on other download services.

Since release of his ‘Volume 1’ CD in 2011, Green was honored as a Texas Music Legend, on the television series "The Texas Music Scene with Ray Benson" (Season 3, Episode 23, in 2012), and has been featured in 60-minute Live show performances at Lewisville (Texas) Western Days festival in 2013 and 2014.

“This CD,” says Green, “features ‘NOW’ songs - 2014 recordings, and ‘THEN’ songs - from the 1970’s and 1960's.”
Sixteen of the 20 tracks are previously un-released recordings. There are a couple of Modern Country cuts, “My Plow,”
which is a ‘power takeoff’ on the ‘tractor’ songs of the past decade, and “420 Colorado Time,” a tale of relief from physical and emotional pain, found on a '420 Tour' in Colorado's newly legal marijuana scene.

Between the Mod cuts is a beautiful ‘young lovers’ dance waltz, as they look forward to long lives and “Dancing At 99.”

“My Plow” and “Dancing At 99” were written by Green and Jan Buckingham, a writer of Pam Tillis's chart-topper "Cleopatra Queen of Denial" and other Hit songs of the past 20 years.

“420 Colorado Time” was written by Green and Nashville newcomer Winston Boyd of Waterloo, NY.

Remaining tracks are Classic/Traditional Country. Five are from an ‘Old Pro Session’ on April 21, 2014, but in the style of the 1950s & 60s Golden Era of Country Music, when musicians were allowed to play extended solos on records.
The pickers on this ‘Old Pro Session’ include:
Drums-Gene Chrisman,
Bass-David Spicher,
Electric & Dobro Guitar -Pete Wade,
Acoustic Guitar- Jimmy Capps (Musicians Hall of Fame),
Harmonica-Charlie McCoy (Country Music Hall of Fame),
Steel Guitar-Lloyd Green (Steel Guitar Hall of Fame),
Piano/Keyboard-Rodger Morris [graciously sub-ing for “Pig” Robbins (Country Music Hall of Fame) who was ill that day].

Track 05 - “Blue Ribbon Blues” is one of two versions of this Glenn D Tubb/Jerry K Green title. In this one, Green sings about being a champion as the bluest of the blue.
The other version, sung by Tubb on Now And Then - Volume1, is about the same situation, but instead of seeing himself as a champion, Blue Ribbon Beer consoles him.

Also featured in this album are 10 recordings arranged and produced by Bill Walker, legendary arranger, producer, and conductor for Eddy Arnold, Johnny Cash, the Statler Brothers, and numerous TV Specials. The four previously released tracks are in this group. Two were Billboard Top Country Singles Chart discs in 1977, “I Know The Feeling” and “Genuine Texas Good Guy,” along with their 45rpm mates.

Jerry K. Green resumed his music career as a Nashville-based performing songwriter in 2010, after a 30-year absence.
A veteran performer on the Grand Ole Opry and Louisiana Hayride in the 50’s and 60’s, Green’s songs were also recorded by such major label recording artists as Billy Walker (Columbia) and Jimmy Heap (Capitol). A Staff Announcer at the world renowned WSM-TV in the late 1960’s, Green also served as a broadcast news anchor at KLBK-TV in Lubbock following a stint as Sports Director at KTAL-TV in Shreveport, after beginning his TV career at KTBC-TV in Austin. His work in radio included DJ work at WENO in Nashville in 1966-67 when it was THE Country Music outlet in the market, plus DJ/Program/Music Director posts at radio stations KVET and KOKE in Austin in the 1960’s and 1970’s.
