Happy To Go
I was happy to go but sad to say goodbye
To those who stood and fell by my side
My brothers struggle on as I board this plane
In their moment of need will I be far away
But I’ve done my time 500 days

I’m headed home to family and friends
To walk the streets that seem to never end
Tryin' to put behind the thoughts and the deeds
Of the time I spent on foreign sand and sea
And dream of others who sacrifice for me

How do I explain to my wife and little girls
Why I flew to that war-torn world
My job is to run in, not to flee
To repay a debt and do so proudly
Fearing the cost for my family

It’s the price we pay for our country
We’re happy to go but sad to leave
Happy to go but sad to leave
