Small Town
It’s a small town where secrets sleep
Behind closed doors where spiders creep
The nights are long and talk is cheap
In a small town
The ladies with their hair in nets
Sucking on their cigarettes
Talk with tongues like bayonets
In a small town
Small town
It’s a small town
Take a walk round in a small town….
It’s a small town with a quiet street
Where walls have ears and dogs have teeth
And the pavements cracked beneath your feet
It’s a small town
There’s the church and there’s the school
There’s that no-good drunken fool
There’s the girl who broke the rule
In a small town
Small town
It’s a small town
Take a walk round in a small town….
In a town like this one night on earth
A teenage girl took her last breath
At the virgins feet where she gave birth
In a small town
A small town with eyes and ears
But no-one sees and no-one hears
And a concrete statue cries real tears
In a small town
It’s a small town…
