Brooklyn, USA, Home to some of the greatest talents the world has ever known delivers another talented individual whose gift has made him one of the finest musicians in the Tri – State Area. Stix Bones started playing drums at an early age. He developed a great passion for music listening to Funk and R&B, introduced to him by his older brother. Stix’s career direction evolved when he attended Purchase College in Westchester, New York. He received a Bachelors Degree in Jazz Performance. While in school, he landed his first European tour of England, France and Switzerland with Brooklyn Poets , The Vibe Khameleons feat. Rahzel The Godfather of Noize.
Shortly after his return; he teamed up with 5 time Showtime at the Apollo winner Poetess Jessica Care Moore to tour the US. Stix known for being a Hip Hop drummer became the NY music director for The Lyricist Lounge which gave him the opportunity to work with legendary Hip-Hop acts such as Doug E. Fresh, DJ Scratch, De La Soul ,Q- Tip of A.T.C.Q., Common, and Mos Def. In 2008 Stix became the main drummer for internationally known group Soulfege; who fuses a unique blend of Hip Hop, Reggae, Funk and West African Highlife. Soulfege is lead by Oprah Winfrey XM Sirius host Derrick Ashong. Stix has had the privilege to record two award winning albums with Soulfege and perform on the Derrick Ashong Experience.
Recording sessions with Hip Hop producers and Jazz musicians influenced Stix to start his independent record label BONE Entertainment. His first release entitled "Groove Like This" graced the smooth jazz airwaves and charted in the top 50 independent smooth jazz charts, It has charted in the top 10 on the digital jazz charts and made it to the top 20 jazz charts in rance. In 2009 Stix dipped into his pot of creativity and pulled out his producer chops with a contribution to Matt Marshak’s album “Family Funktion” with the single “Gas Lamp Groove”. He collaborated with Dj Big Nito to produce the club hit song “Wanna Party?”In late 2009 Stix got the blues and partnered with song writer/producer/guitarist John Turco releasing the hit Blues album “Beyond the Blues” which features the chart topping hit “Nuttin but the Blues”.
Stix Bones and his band The BONE Squad is currently the House Band for The Paradise Theater in NYC opening for acts such as Charlie Wilson, Jahiem, Keith Sweat and The Ojay’s Stix Bones has built a respectable name amongst Jazz, Blues &Hip Hop artist and is credited as one of the most talented drummers of our time.
