Biography
The band was put together at the end of 2006, combining the songwriting talents of Andy Penington and Stefano Raggi with members of Torinese southern rock/blues bands Voodoo Lake and Silvertrane. Andy had completed a solo album entitled "Cheated Hearts" in 2004, while Stefano Raggi was recording his own material at the same Bottleneck Studios in Turin, Italy. Initially both artists, although collaborating on each others' recordings, went their separate ways. All that changed when Andy did an acoustic show in Turin at the beginning of July 2006. Rather than perform solo, he asked Stefano Raggi to accompany him on harmonica and backing vocals, and Stefano duly obliged. Over a few drinks after the show, they pondered the fact that they had both used pretty much the same musicians for their recordings, and that it would be great if they could get everyone together to do it live. To their pleasant surprise, everyone was up for it, and the Wild Boars were born! The result is a remarkable blend of smouldering, pulsating blues, heart-wrenching country ballads and exhilarating, high energy folk rock....... Come and join the Wild Boars....we'll save yer bacon!!
