Seán sa Cheo / Tuar / Oíche Fheidhmiúil (A Spirited Night)
The first tune here is a version of the famous Donegal reel in D, which fiddler Néillidh Boyle of Cró na Sealg composed. Martin Tourish penned the two tunes that follow. “Tuar” is a Gaelic word meaning “omen or sign”. It was inspired by a type of lowset fiery reels from Donegal. “Oíche Fheidhmiúil (A Spirited Night)” is an expression unique to the Gaeltacht Láir or Central Gaeltacht of Donegal. It was composed after a magical night of music that began in Ardara and continued in Glenties.
