Dark Inishowen

Mairéad heard this song of unrequited love from a young Inishowen girl, Máire Harkin, recently while giving a singing workshop at Ceol na Coille, a summer school of traditional music in Letterkenny, Co. Donegal. She was so struck by it that she went looking for a recording of the song in the Traditional Music Archives with the help of Director, Grace Toland. This version is an amalgamation of versions from Denis McDaid, Jimmy Houten, Michael McGonigle and Cornelius McEleney, collected by Séamus Mac Giolla Bhríde for The Inishowen Song Project.
