Your audience will thank you for these fresh, new and exciting renditions.

"Amanda Cohen is a wonderful singer," "this album is
terrific," "you've got to hear her sing." -Dick Robinson, American Standards by the Sea

Special Thanks to my Producers and all the fine Nashville musicians contributing to this album, especially to Buddy Hyatt for his big band orchestrations, and Jim Hoke for his horn arrangements.

Executive Producer - Paul Cohen, Producer / Music Director - Buddy Hyatt, Rickey Lee Watson, AMC Nashville Records, Piano and Organ - Buddy Hyatt, Electric Guitar - James Mitchell, Acoustic & Nylon String Guitar - Bobby Terry, Bass Guitar - Jim Hyatt, Percussion & Drums - Garth Justice, Horn Arrangements - Jim Hoke, Orchestra Arrangements - Buddy Hyatt, Backup Vocals for “I Believe” - Renee Martin & Micah Roberts, Engineers - Buddy Hyatt, Kelly Schoenfeld, Owen Lindaman, Jared Clement, & Zach Allen, Mastering - Duncan Stanbury, Groove Mastering, New York Recording Studios - The Tracking Room & The Sound Emporium, Nashville, TN

A wonderful synergy happened when I merged my lifetime work in music with this team of talented and dedicated musicians. You can hear the magic in every song on the album. A new genre in music, C & B. I Crooned and Belted a selection of timeless classic standards in a contemporary groove with traces of jazz, rhythm & blues, and country. To introduce these songs to a new generation of listeners, I am breathing new life into the music of an era of treasures gone by, great music never to be forgotten. That is why the album is called, "A NEW STANDARD".

To pay homage to some of the Great Legends, the album features signature songs by…Frank Sinatra ( Birth of the Blues & That’s Life ) Tony Bennett ( I Left My Heart in San Francisco ) Sophie Tucker ( Some Of These Days / After You’ve Gone ) Judy Garland & Al Jolson ( Rock A Bye Your Baby With A Dixie Melody ) Patti Page ( The Tennessee Waltz ) Jane Froman ( With A Song In My Heart and I Believe ) Al Jolson & Jimmy Roselli ( Let Me Sing and I’m Happy ).

Within the lyrics of "The Birth of the Blues", credit is given to where the blues began which is the south land of the US. There was no better place to record my first release of C & B, than Nashville TN, the heart of the South where so much great music originates.

“When Does The Hurtin Stop” is an original song written by my Producer, Buddy Hyatt many years ago when he was just 18, his first song before many that he has written. Our coming together for this project was inevitable and we waited all these years for the right combination of song, voice, and style, for the recording of this emotionally charged song.

About The Artist

Amanda Cohen is a professional singer and entertainer appearing at leading hotels and performing arts centers. Aside from standards, Amanda fell in love with the harmonies in the music of the late 50’s and 60’s and sang lead for the “Earth Angels”. The Earth Angels Show was performed in oldies revues with such original groups as: the Temptations, Coasters, Del Vikings, Mystics, Platters, and many others. She also performed as the Doowop Queen. Amanda Cohen knows how to belt out a song. She croons the standards, thrilling her audiences with unique vocal style, beauty, and talent. She holds the listener captive with her “pure voice” approach, creating a truly unforgettable and haunting listening experience. Amanda’s unique style is a culmination of her life’s work, love for the music, and developed talent. She trained for many years singing the standards with two very talented mentors. They coached her on style, approach, phrasing and diction, and performing dynamics helping to develop her upfront and personal vocal style.

Amanda’s music career has come full circle, back to her roots and love for the standards from the Great American Songbook. Amanda performed her one woman show on a Florida tour backed by pianist Al Nero and his ensemble. She also entertains at Galas, Charitable Events, and Recitals..

A Personal Note From Amanda Cohen

I hope to have created a warm spot in the music that reaches inside and takes you to a special place. Great music, where lyrics are both beautiful and romantic, lives on and only gets richer with time just like fine wine. Here’s to a new standard. I deeply appreciate you sharing my music with your audience.
