Twenty-eight years ago, Modjeska Canyon, within the hills of old Orange County, California played host to the birth of a "BOHEMIAN COUNTRY SONGSTRESS" whose is emerging as one of the most important female singer/songwriters of our time. AMANDA RICHARDS was born surrounded by country music, grew up with strong family ties and values like those of her grandfather, legendary "Sons of The Pioneers" member Rusty Richards with musical influences by Joni Mitchell, Hank Williams and Tom Waits.

After gaining some very early experience, sharing the stage with her family of musicians, Amanda relocated to Oregon, where she hitchhiked, busked on street corners, or lived in her car while honing her skills and crafting her unique style of appropriately called "Bohemian Country" music. Wynonna Judd, Joan Jett, Joni Mitchell, Linda Ronstadt, Stevie Nicks and Patsy Cline all in one. You gotta hear it to believe it.

The music of Amanda Richards covers a wide and diverse field—from sensuous ballads to old-school rockabilly; soulful bossa-nova to laugh-out-loud country satire. In 2004, at the age of twenty-one she released "Not Always Sexy" as her first album followed by "Live at Mississippi Studios" in 2006 which was hailed as "spellbinding across the spectrum, and a standout whose star is on the rise" by the Portland Tribune. In 2009, Amanda released "Who Has Your Heart" to great reviews and a growing fan base, with music from the album being picked up by radios stations of different genres. Her latest studio album, the post-apocalyptic, zombie-themed "Play Dead" (2010), was praised by the Portland Mercury as “sweet and enduring, despite Richards’s bloody lyrical content. The end of days never sounded so sweet."

Though only twenty-eight years old, Amanda Richards has garnered a lifetime’s worth of experience. She has released three studio albums, one live album, and her music catalog contains over two hundred songs. She has headlined at Portland’s historic Aladdin Theater, appeared on "NPR's River City Folk" in an hour-long interview and has earned 6-Grammy nominations: Song of the Year, Best Female Country Performance, 2-nominations Record of the Year, 2-nominations Best Country Song.

Her live shows are a journey through many different styles and moods, but no matter what song she sings or what audience she plays for, she has everyone hanging on every word. For those who are not yet acquainted with Amanda Richards or her music, well but things change. Though she is skilled in the recording studio—behind either the microphone or the mixing board—and her albums are beautifully realized, delicately crafted, and highly regarded, Amanda’s true calling remains the live performance, where she proves, night after night, that she was indeed born for the stage.
Always willing to push limits and experiment with new projects, Amanda is currently working on the soundtrack for "Washed Ashore", a documentary film about a non-profit group that organizes beach clean-ups and makes large marine life sculptures from collected plastic debris all the while writing and creating music for her upcoming fifth studio album tentatively scheduled for 2012. For those who have yet to hear the music of Amanda Richards, well, things do change.
