When It Comes To You
When It Comes To You
Lyrics and Music by Patrick W. Carr

I don’t listen to my mama when she tells me how to be
I put things in writing that I don’t want other people to see
I do all sorts of things that I know I shouldn’t do
But I get weak in my knees when it comes to you

I stand in the shower during a thunderstorm
I talk on the telephone when lightning’s startin’ to form
I catch snowflakes on my tongue; I’m fearless through and through
But I’m scared like a little girl when it comes to you.

(bridge):
I handle garter snakes and lizards, I’m a reptile reprimander
I tame ant lions and play with a salamander
I consort with all kinds of ferocious beasts of the wild
But when it comes to you, I feel like a tongue-tied little child

I can hold a burly beetle in the palm of my hand
Shoot fireflies off the wall with a rubberband
I can bullwhip a bumblebee off of a flower, too
But I get a hollow feeling in my belly when it comes to you

I wade in tepid water up to my knees
I’m a mean mistreater of innocent water fleas
I slap my paddle on the surface to scare the crickets in the kudzu
But I’m lost in the woods when it comes to you.

I don’t listen to my mama when she tells me how to be
I put things in writing that I don’t want other people to see
I stay out too late, way past my curfew
But I get weak in my knees when it comes to you
I get a funny, funny feeling when it comes to you
