Met a child the other day,
I'll call him Johnny just to keep him safe.
The cutest smile you've ever seen-
with big bright eyes staring back at me
As he fell, I knelt to pick him up
but the nurses quickly said, "Don't touch!"

Picture yourself only five
and its a fight to stay a live
A day full of pills to masquerade the pain
Maybe there's a place somewhere, where no more pain exist
Now Johnny knows because he passed away today.



Can we forget to love?
Forget to share our blessings from above?
Johnny's not the only one.
There's so many names unsung.
When we think of how they make it through -
What if it was me or you?
