MARLON
The Music Factor
There is a new star rising on the South Florida horizon - a 24-year-old, upbeat-stylized singer known simply as MARLON. A one-name wonder in a sea of singers, this fine-looking, Jamaica-born Florida-raised songster recently launched his musical career, and it is steering toward the land of turntables and clubs, crowded with dancing and good vibes. Whether it is soulful R&B, hip-hop, pop, or trendy techno, the fresh beats behind Marlon’s sweet-as-honey voice set him solidly apart. “After hearing his demo and witnessing his high energy, I knew that Marlon had something unique,” says Executive Producer Armando Gonzalez. “He’s more than just an R&B singer; he’s a mix of R&B, pop, and hip-hop”
The first single, “Get with You,” from his up-coming debut CD on Muziq Records, is receiving coveted airplay on South Florida’s Top 40 radio, and available on iTunes, Napster, Rhapsody, and Amazon, to name a few. Marlon’s dance beats and sexy singing have been influenced by Pharell, Chris Brown, R. Kelly, and the new flavor of club favorite, Usher. “I currently write music on a dance level,” says Marlon, “so it doesn’t matter your age, you can catch the beat.” “My lyrics are clean,” he adds, “I want people to feel good.” As a youth, his singing ability was honed in the church, where his father was also a singer. His appreciation for, and understanding of, women was inspired by his two older sisters. As a result, his songs are written for everyone -- men, women, young adults – and filled with messages of love, style, and respect. Following a recent promotional event inside Club Hotel in Palm Beach, Florida, the freshly minted performer was commended by the club’s manager for drawing a record number of people, a response not seen in his club since Diddy’s now popular Danity Kane appeared there.
Talented and humble, the out-going fun-loving Marlon is poised for success. Riding the wave that “Get with You” is creating on radio and the Internet, Marlon looks forward to more multiple promotional events and live performances in the South Florida, Atlanta, and New York City markets. Right now, when not riding his dirt bike or spending time with his family, he is found in the studio where a second single, “Bring it On” featuring Jamaican dancehall artist Junior Sky, is being readied for release. The final tracks are also being laid for his much-anticipated debut CD, produced by Muziq Records founder Armando Gonzalez and the beat-driven Alex “Specz” Miller. With a career shooting into the stratosphere, Marlon is proof that hard work and effort will factor into recognition and success. “I see Marlon having a Top 40 hit in the next few months,” Gonzalez proclaims, “and becoming a full-blown mainstream recording artist and performer.”
