Biography
From Floyd County, Kentucky come the Gospel harmonies of The Lawsons, Kellard and Melva, along with guest Larry Cordle on their first single "I Heard My Mother Call My Name In Prayer", from their new CD scheduled to be released in January on Kindred.
Returning to the festival circuit in 2009 after several years off, their new Gospel CD "Shout It From The Highest Hill" brings the homecoming gathering sound and spirit of a wonderful get-together with guests Ralph Stanley, David Parmley, Dale Perry, Larry Cordle, Charlie Sizemore, and Marty Rabon.
Band members include Paul Smith, Mike Jackson, Joe Jackson, and Randy Stiltner, and the new project was recorded at the well known Maggard Sound studios in Big Stone Gap, VA by Jim Price and Alan Maggard.
The Lawsons have historically performed at many venues, from Bean Blossom to Rupp Arena, hosted their own festival in Paintsville, KY at Doc Turners Farm, and shared stages with Bill Monroe, Loretta Lynn, Lester Flatt, Ralph Stanley, Jimmie Skinner, Doc Watson, and many others.
The Lawsons are currently looking for more dates to fill their calendar for 2009 festival season, and you can find out more by visiting their new website at www.thelawsonsband.com
