Estranged
Estranged
Written by Bruce Wing/Judy Wing 2007

I ran into an old friend, at least I thought that’s what we were
Though I could only guess at all the rumors they had heard
The ones that slowly make it back to me like rocks in my shoe
An evidence of travelling, pieces of a bigger truth.

I know it makes them wonder what they’re too afraid to ask
It’s easier to distance the present from the past
And I think of all the judgements that I have made in stone
Without even a conversation, just leave well enough alone
Chorus:
Estranged, a long and weary road
With no map, no destination
Just a silence that's so cold
Estranged, a tangle with no ends
Saving pieces of what used to be
Though it will never be again.

I suppose that it should matter but I’m too tired for defence,
Too many miles of stoics under the weight of my regrets
So you can choose the thoughts you want to and I’ll be on my way
I’ve got a long road to travel, and I may only have today.
Chorus:
