Bed of Tears
Bed of Tears
by Susie Warley
She sips her coffee, stares blankly out the window
Into the darkness of the day
And that ole sun of yesterday, he just sank into the sea
He won’t be shinin’ on her today
And there’s no escape
From the bed she’s made
And she’s drownin’ in a bed of tears
Payin’ penance for those wanton years
When she broke the hearts of many a good man
And now she’s drownin,’ in a bed of tears, drownin’
She feels his heat risin’ up beside her
But the bed feels cold and empty
And it all seems as if it’s just a bad dream
She can’t find any sympathy
She’s a prisoner in a cave
The author of her own fate
And she’s drownin’ in a bed of tears
Payin’ penance for those wanton years
When she broke the hearts of many a good man
And now she’s drownin,’ in a bed of tears, drownin’
And there’s no escape
From the bed she’s made
And she’s drownin’ in a bed of tears
Payin’ penance for those wanton years
When she broke the hearts of many a good man
And now she’s drownin,’ in a bed of tears drownin’
