Biography
Get to know the music style of Rural-Suburban-Inner City jazz. The smooth and contemporary jazz music by Bobby Lee who has returned in late 2012 with his latest album Moments & Notions featuring nine brand new song.

A long time independent artist,Bobby was born and raised in Texas. Composing instrumental jazz both smooth & contemporary since early teens. Started off playing the keyboard and then adding the bass guitar by the age of 18. Bobby grew up in church listening to the bass, organ and piano players so Gospel was his first introduction to music. Around the age of 10 he began lessons in guitar for a short time. As he recalls,"I don't think my mother had fun sitting outside in the car as 30 minute lessons would turn into an hour or so just from jamming to old 60's tunes, my teacher called me "Chuck Berry"! At 16 Bobby had a desire to start composing my own style of Jazz so he purchased his first keyboard and recorder and started composing. At 18 he started playing the bass guitar at his church. Bobby released his first album "Desire Strength & Ambitions" in 1999 and was first featured on Austin,Tx KAZI with Sharon(Jaye)Jones as the album went on to be feature on various internet radio stations. Afterwards 2nd Phaze was released in 2007 along with a maxi single "Afternoon Drive". 2nd Phaze was featured on the online radio station smoothjazz.com and it sister station smoothlounge.com as it boasted out four singles. Sandy Shore gave the album a great review stating..."Songs that stand out to our ears include the sweet and smooth, “Cherished Memories,” the delicate trance-like vibe of “Golden Summer,” the Lounge-bound, “Red Eye Flight,” and my favorite, the ‘up-in-your-grill,’ spicy “This Groove.” This is something from Texas that you’ll want to keep around way beyond 2008!" Next came the summer release of 2010 Bobby was back with his latest project titled "INDEED SOULFUL",a collection of 14 original smooth & contemporary jazz songs. It's an all around blend of smooth/contemporary and funk jazz. There's something for everyone in this new work from Bobby Lee.

Words on Moments & Notions review by Heath Andrews:

There are certain albums that either because of their sound or lyrical content, are more inclined to be played at specific times or specific occasions. Moments & Notions finds itself amongest these kinds of records in that Lee has fitted it with nine songs that are very similar in tone, atmosphere, pacing, and instrumentation. The entire CD has a kind of “late-night” R&B groove to it, kind of like a Barry White album but without the vocals and orchestration. The sound is no less lush though as each track has a large amount of instruments on them, most of them being played by Lee himself. Because the album is wonderfully played and produced, there’s not a bad note to be heard; Lee’s remarkably consistent in this sense. However, the sound is so consistent that the album might as well be one staggeringly long song broken up into nine sections.
