WINNER OF THE 2009 CAPE FEAR BLUES CHALLENGE- solo division, and the 2007 CAPE FEAR BLUES CHALLENGE- band division.

Born in a south Louisiana chicken coop with a bottle neck on my little finger and a guitar in my hand. Been playin’ dem Chickenhead Blues for a thousand years, from the Mississippi Delta to the North Carolina Piedmont, from the Cape Fear River Basin to the rolling hills of Virginia. Competed at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee- 2008 and 2010.

Performance is reminiscent of an old blues master, with growled, passionate baritone vocals, thumpin’ rhythm, and raw, stinging slide guitar. Major influences include Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson, Willie Dixon, Mississippi Fred McDowell, Tom Waites and John Hammond. Featured performer at many NC BLUES Festivals including the Cape Fear Blues Festival, the Pleasure Island Seafood, Blues, & Jazz Festival, Celebrate the Arts, Front Street @ 3, and Riverfest. Plays as a solo act or with the CHICKENHEAD BLUES BAND and may be seen playing “da Chickenhead blues” at Wilmington and North Carolina area clubs such as Sixteen Taps, The Whiskey, Front Street Brewery, The Rusty Nail, Port City Java, etc.
