Softly and Tenderly

Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling,
Calling for you and for me;
Oh see, on the portals He’s waiting and watching,
He's watching for you and for me.

Why should we tarry when Jesus is pleading,
Pleading, pleading for you and for me?
Oh why, why should we linger, why should we linger and heed not His mercies?
Mercies for you and for me.

Then I would hear somebody say,
"Come home, come home,
Ye who are weary, come on home";
Earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling,
Calling, He's calling "Oh sinner, come home!
