R.L. Burnside (Sleight Return)
Last night I had a dream about R.L. Burnside
We were drinking two small whiskeys and watching the TV
It was Check and Double Check, Amos & Andy
And he laughed like that old movie was the funniest he'd seen

When R.L. Burnside was a boy, in North Mississippi
He's ride his bike to Memphis just to see the picture show
And when he'd ride on home, he'd watch for the night riders
And hide out in the bushes when some headlines come along

Not near often enough do I dream of R.L. Burnside
And when I do, we're drinking whiskey or maybe two small beers
And R.L. tells me about the world and they way he liked to see it
And every time I wake up I wish R.L. Burnside was still here
