Judgment Day
Judgment Day

He wakes up one morning
His head is still hurting
After a hard night in the bar
Feels the need to go to church
His demons have been to work
It’s a good thing he doesn’t have to go far
With shaky legs and trembling hands
Alone with no friends
He makes his way to the door

Let’s not judge here today
It’s not your place anyway
Even Jesus hung out with drunkards and the poor
Don’t condemn me to hell
You don’t know me that well
I’m down on my knees
Come and pray with me please
Today is not my Judgment day

As he walks thru the pews
In worn out jeans and tattered shoes
To find a place to sit down
He notices the stares
Hears the whispers from everywhere
And there is not a smile to be found
Is it the clothes that he wears
Or the tattoo’s that he bears
But he’s never felt like this before

Let’s not judge here today
It’s not your place anyway
Even Jesus hung out with drunkards and the poor
Don’t condemn me to hell
You don’t know me that well
I’m down on my knees
Come and pray with me please
Today is not my Judgment day
