Billy Mitchell’s Wit Shines w/ ‘Detour’

Don DiMuccio - Motif Magazine

"Billy Mitchell’s strength is his folksy everyman delivery, with a lean toward the sort of irreverence found in writers like Ray Stevens.

Whether lampooning pop culture or lamenting the conditions of healthcare, Billy Mitchell leaves the listener with something to think about. "

Billy Mitchell has a lot of musical fun on his new CD, DETOUR
Bill Copeland - Bill Copeland Music News

Billy Mitchell sings and plays out his witty observations with a personable approach that makes you feel like you're listening to him in your living room.

He has a down to earth attitude and acceptance of all the strange things that come our way in life. He renders them with fine detail, great warmth and plenty of talent.

His ability to narrate an amusing story with song and guitar remains intact no matter how far-fetched it becomes.

He unfolds a sense of humor at a personal pace, telling his tale one mouthful of verse at a time, giving you plenty of humorous detail to keep you hooked.

Mitchell has got to be the most fun guy in the room.

"Billy Mitchell has an ear for a good melody and turn of phrase.

His trademark wit and knack for a memorable melody turn up on ...an eclectic mix showcasing the heart and humor that are staples of Mitchell's songwriting.

Longtime fans of Mitchell's will no doubt want to take this "Detour" with him."

The title of the CD pretty much sums it up best. These are songs heavily laden with humor and a philosophy of life somewhat like ‘que sera, sera’.

You will love Billy Mitchell’s humor and his outlook on life. He definitely has his own world view and songwriting voice.

Fun, fun and more fun – that is what I have to say about Billy Mitchell’s debut CD,

Singer/songwriter Billy Mitchell has a humorous outlook on the worst and best of what life has to offer.

All of the songs on this 12 song CD are well crafted with memorable choruses that have you singing long after the CD stops spinning.

This is a great album. High comedy. I find all of this to be absolutely hilarious.

The music makes you want tap your toes....this reviewer found the tales the artist told and the manner in which he told them far more interesting.
