Cyclades Surprise
The sun rained down white hot, on a blue Aegean Sea.
Two days out of Piraeus, tired as we could be
A long week on the mainland, batteries drained low
Recharge on a Greek island, seemed the way to go.

A table by the harbor, cool Ouzo for this thirst.
Chit-chat with the locals, things could be much worse

He said "May I join you?" we said "That'd be just fine"
He said "Have you been to Athens? I left friends behind."
It was after Mete-ora, we made Athens from on high
We said "Describe your friends", he said "I won't ev-en try."

Chorus
He said things have changed in Athens, my friends have turned away
They used to ponder lofty things, now there's nothing left to say
Still so many questions, but no answers for today
At least I know what I don't know, so like a gnat, I flew away

Chorus
We said "let's have a drink", He said "the last one hurt me so.
It's time this old deep thinker should just go with the flow"
He scratched his beard, shook his locks and drifted down the street
We noticed later on, he left a gold coin in his seat.

Bridge
Waiter, a friend left this behind and I don't know what to do
I'm sorry sir, but all day long there was no one there but you

Chorus (Repeat last line)
