Tilla
Christian Justilien was born in Nassau in 1960 but raised in Pinder’s Point on the island of Grand Bahama. He studied at the Berklee College of Music in Boston and the VanderCook College of Music in Chicago. His versatility as performer, educator, composer, arranger, and community leader is shown through his positions as Assistant Professor at The College of The Bahamas, the leader of AMBASAH (Jazz/Caribbean Band), the leader of Colours Entertainment and Junkanoo organization, a violinist with the Nassau Chamber Ensemble, and a member of the C Force chamber ensemble. Justilien currently resides in Nassau where he dedicates much of his time to the teaching and mentoring of young musicians.

“Tilla” is an original composition inspired by the simple harmonies, the rhythmic complexities, and the acoustic sound of the once-popular “Goombay” style of The Bahamas.
