The Voice From Within
Although I've been active in the pro-life movement for many years, the thought never occurred to me to write a pro-life song. It's rather strange how this happened.

One night I drove to the gas station not too far from my house. When I finished pumping gas, I fully intended to go home. However, something made me drive right past my street and continue on to the town library farther down the road. I had no idea why I did it. As I walked inside, I thought to myself, "Why am I here?" I walked over to the section where the CDs are kept and started looking at a few of them. One of them was an instrumental by the Boston Pops Orchestra. I looked at the list of songs on the back. Some of them were familiar to me, while a few were unfamiliar melodies.

I took a couple of CDs home, still wondering why I went to the library. One of the unfamiliar tunes on the Boston Pops CD was entitled "I Dreamed a Dream", a song from the very popular "Les Miserables". I've never seen that show. For the first time, I played that song. I didn't know the lyrics. As I listened to the melody, especially toward the end, I envisioned a baby inside the mother's womb pleading for its life. It was an emotional moment for me.

After it was done, I asked the Lord if He wanted me to write a song about this. That's how it all began -- the song and the CD. None of it was planned. I just followed God's lead.

I researched the lyrics of the song so I could count the syllables and come up with my own lyrics to fit in with the music. When I finished, it was my own words but it was not my music. I retained that melody.

When it eventually became apparent that the Lord wanted me to record this on a CD for others to hear, I realized I had to come up with a new melody. The tune you hear now is my own, composed under the influence of the Holy Spirit.

The message of "The Voice From Within" is powerful and clearly the work of God. It is meant to save babies' lives, so it needs to be powerful.
