Review Wave of Music
David Rice, once again, proves himself as a world-class singer / songwriter / multi-instrumentalist with his third CD, "Wave of Music". He has his own unique, captivating style, creating an atmosphere that is reminiscent of The Beatles, Roy Orbison, Cat Stevens, Neil Young, and Buddy Miller. David wrote all twenty-four songs himself, pouring pure passion into a mix of genres including Americana, Vintage Folk Rock, Roots, Country, and Blues, as well as Celtic Rock, Love Songs and a touch of Classical (with the composition "Spring Water"). He perfects the art of setting mood to music in the spellbinding "Dream World" and aligns eloquent poetry with ingenious chords in the timeless classics, "A New Beginning" and "The Way I Am" . He also includes a gem he wrote and recorded in early 1980's, the retro-classic "Happiness is For those Who Share". David has an extensive knowledge of music and instruments and, for the first time, shares his proficiency with piano and slide guitar, among the many other instruments he plays. In a time when pop culture has gone awry and much of today's music is filled with negativity and mixed messages, David's puts a positive spin in his music and produces songs that are uplifting and refreshing. He even strives to make a social impact out of his care for others with his songs "Killer in Your Neighborhood" and "Where Are We Going To". He also blends folk lore with flare in the Celtic ballads "Edward Rice", "Wild Whiskey Sailor" and "Where are We Going To". David is currently finishing his fourth CD, "Rockin' Country Blues", which will be available in 2012.

Review "The Rain": Amazing "Acoustic Folk Rock" "The Rain" is a complete solo effort composed by David Rice which features his captivating voice, poetic verse and the brilliant instrumentation of him and band members, The Blue Swedes, in an original style that they refer to as "Acoustic Folk Rock". In the title track, "The Rain", and other songs, they showcase the overdubbing of many acoustic instruments: the mandolin, mandola, Irish banjo and Irish drum(called a bodhran). "Could It Be You" has an enthusiastic theme with a sultry beat while, in "TV One-Eyed Goddess", David picks up the tempo with a very impressive infusion of bluesy guitar, perfected vocals and ingenious lyrics. David rounds out his eclectic taste in music with a gospel song, "Your Holy Spirit", which is sure to touch your soul.Kathleen Mason Celestial Tide Productions Charitable Fundraiser /
Brilliant mix of genres; a true mastery of music!!!
Review "The Collection" spans many different genres with a mix of country / rock, international folk, serious blues as well as a hint of soft jazz and swing! What captured my attention most was the clarity and vast range of David's mesmerizing voice (with the likes of Chris Isaak) and his true compassion for and proficiency with so many styles of music. On this album, he’s accompanied with harmony by some friends who are renowned musicians. Emit Rhodes (60´s Merry go round) sang with him, and he recorded some of the songs in his studio!
John Batdorf (80´s Silver) sang harmony with him, on a song on this Cd! Since part of it was recorded in Sweden, many great Swedish, Danish, and Finish musicians also played on this Cd!... their names and successes may ring a bell! The instrumentation in "The Collection" is brilliant, with a variety of winds, strings, and percussion. The music is so eclectic and unique, but certain songs are somewhat reminiscent of Elvis and Roy Orbinson. While some of David's lyrics are light-hearted (Rocking My Baby), he also exposes the heart of the hopeless romantic ("Hold on To Love" and "Your Love is Like an Angel") and a very powerful message of our outcry for world peace ("Where are We Going To") . Thanks, David (& Company), for such a great masterpiece!! I look forward to listening to David’s 2nd CD , "Rain", and can’t help but wonder what surprises he’ll have for us with CD number three! The collection CD has it all, rock, love, and tears. Listen to: I’m not running any more... that’s my favorite, I can’t stop listening to that song .............
The collection has 24 of his original songs on it, no covers! It’s called the collection, since it’s a collection from singles and recordings of David Rice from LA, Calif, to Sweden. He had a lot of help from many great musicians who sang or played, co-wrote with him on this Cd!
Emit Rhodes (60´s Merry go round) sang with him, and he recorded some of the songs in his studio!
John Batdorf (80´s Silver) sang harmony with him, on a song on this Cd! Since part of it was recorded in Sweden, many great Swedish, Danish, and Finish musicians also played on this Cd! Check out David´s song for peace in this world and love for people not power. Song (Where are we going to) Track 9. on this Cd.
When this Cd "The Collection" was finished, He wondered if there were too many styles of music on it!
The funny thing is that more people told David, that they like it that way! It could be a folk rock, then a country blues, or a Irish song! David 2nd Cd is called "The Rain" David Rice with The Blueswedes! Note link info. below for CD baby. He is now working on His 4th Cd.
