What I Died For
What I Died For

I recently spent some time with a real hero, a Veteran of the good old USA,
These were some of his thoughts, and what he had to say,

Verse
It’s a shame that I ain’t, proud as I used to be,
Because family values, under God, mean the world to me,
Now the things I fought against, are common and running wild,
Not fit for man nor beast, no place to raise a child,

Still some pat me on the back, say they’re thankful today,
While the standards I’d died for, are fading away,
Now we all have our day, to reflect where we’ve been,
While as a Nation we drown, in a river of sin.

Chorus
Is this why I offered my life, and showed my love,
To give you your rights, when I shed my blood,
Is this how you show, don’t show me no more,
After all is said and done, is what we’ve become, what I fought for.

Verse 2
Well once on a hill, the world so despised,
Jesus was led up, and there crucified,
From Him we have turned, for the world He loves so,
Wonder how bad He hurts, as He looks below.

Chorus 2
Is this why I offered my life, and showed my love,
To give you your rights, when I shed my blood,
Is this how you show, don’t show me no more,
After all is said and done, what you’ve become, is what I died for,

Before your life is through, you’ll know the truth, I died for you.
