FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

“ON MY WAY TO FINDING YOU”

On May 1, 2011, Soaring Eagle Productions released the album “On My Way To Finding You” by Glace Bay, Nova Scotia born and raised Drake Jensen, and containing the title track “On My Way To Finding You” written by Richard Mitchell being released to radio on January 16, 2012.

Also being released on January 20th is the video accompanying the single, filmed by Ottawa’s (Drake’s current home) photographer and videographer Jacob P. Fergus.

Drake gained considerable notoriety both in Canada and the United States with reviews praising the debut release. Late in December 2011, Drake experienced his first sellout concert in Ottawa at the NAC! To read these reviews one only has to google the name Drake Jensen. Drake has also been chosen to showcase his talent at this year’s ECMA’s to be held in Moncton, NB in April.

The song speaks of the life journey we all go through to find that one special person that makes all the difference in our life. It was also chosen as the title track to speak of Drake’s journey to find his fans, the people who are meant to hear his music. It is this dedication to his fans that compels Drake to be completely honest about who he is, and part of his being is that he is a gay man.

Drake feels that, as a public figure, he needs to let people know who he is, and understands that some people may not accept this facet of him, and wishes to give them the choice whether to remain fans or not, and that this is a matter of respecting everyone’s beliefs.
Gay people who fully accept who they are feel an obligation to come out many times throughout their lives. From the first time to family and close friends, to every time they meet new people socially or professionally. They don’t, however, see it as a dramatic event, but rather a matter of informing people about an important facet of their identity, one that they don’t wish to hide.

Drake also feels a compelling sense of duty and obligation to the pioneers, not just of gay rights, but all facets of human rights, that fought hard and paved the way for those who followed to be who they are and live their lives to the fullest.

The other aspect of this coming out is geared towards young people that have been or are being bullied and find it is so difficult to cope with. Drake was especially affected by Ottawa teen, Jamie Hubley’s suicide in the fall of 2011. Having been severely bullied himself, Drake wants to let those young people know that it can be better. To that end, Drake has teamed up with Bullying.org to promote their services and help save young lives.

Above and beyond everything else, Drake’s fundamental message, whether conveyed through music or action, is Love, that Love can heal all, and Acceptance is Love.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Canadian Country Recording artist Drake Jensen is getting ready to release his first Christmas single – LITTLE TOY TRAINS to radio worldwide. Born and raised in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia and now a resident of Ottawa, Ontario – Drake Jensen has a HUGE country heart! He has aligned himself with Make-A-Wish Foundation in Canada with his first Christmas single.

Beginning on Tuesday, November 4th – the LITTLE TOY TRAINS campaign will commence with the release to radio and having the single available on iTunes with all proceeds going to the Make-A-Wish Campaign in Canada. Drake’s goal is to have 10,000 downloads on the single as this is what it takes for a child with life threatening medical conditions to have their wish come true! Along with downloads, Drake will take part in the Make-A-Wish event at The Shops at Don Mills on Thursday, November 17 (4:30 – 6:30pm). The Make-A-Wish Foundation are hoping to enter the Guinness World Record for building the largest human star! Drake will perform LITTLE TOY TRAINS and one of his songs from his debut album – On My Way To Finding You as the star is being formed! The LITTLE TOY TRAINS campaign will wrap up on December 16th at the National Arts Centre (Fourth Stage) in Ottawa with Drake presenting a cheque to the Make-A-Wish Foundation from the downloads. Multi-talented singer songwriter Tia McGraff (www.tiamcgraff.com) will be the special guest that evening singing songs from her debut Christmas album and joining Drake for a duet or two!

When asked why he has chosen to align himself with Make-A-Wish Foundation this is what Drake had to say: “This campaign encapsulates the reason why I have regenerated myself musically...before I started on this journey I had already decided that if I couldn’t use the music as a vessel for my message and to help other people, I wouldn’t have started again. Making a wish come true for a child with a life threatening medical condition and enriching the human experience with hope, strength and joy is something I would like to achieve more than anything and I encourage all Canadians to support this wonderful cause.”
Help us make a child’s dream come true!

The listening session was dominated by indies. Some of them were quite listenable (Stephanie Urbina Jones, Aaron Einhouse), others not so much. The one who stood out at a DisCovery Award winner was Drake Jensen. Other than the fact that he is managed out of Ottawa, I know next to nothing about him.

Writer: M. Narmore/M. McGuire; Producer: Kim Copeland; Publisher: Oven/Avalon Avenue, BMI/ASCAP; Soaring Eagle (track).

- Very dramatic. Unmistakably country, but with a certain sonic majesty and terrific, multi-layered production finesse. Not only is the song finely crafted, he sings with open throated confidence and clear conviction. A winner.
