Cowboy Down
COWBOY DOWN

Two thousand pounds of trouble
and meaner than a junk yard dog,
with a gloved hand clutching the rope at its ribs
he hopes to be holding on,
for longer than eight seconds
once he hits the end of the chute,
but as soon as he’s there he’s twisting in mid air
and staring up at his boots,

Cowboy down, cowboy down
when the bull starts spinning around
it’s gonna bring the cowboy down

As horns rip through his shirtfront
and his hat goes sailing away.
he’s falling through a cloud of dust
down onto the cold hard clay,
and when he hears them hooves a thundering
back around his way,
it’s gonna take more than a couple of clowns
to save his **** today,

Cowboy down, cowboy down
when the bull starts spinning around
it’s gonna bring the cowboy down

Curling up into a ball
he rolls toward the fence
and leapimg up on top of it
he knows he’s gonna do it again

It takes a whole lotta courage
to get up off the ground,
when trouble grabs a hold of you
and pushes you around,
and even though you’ll always find
that standing tall is tough
it’s the only way you can let the world
know that you’ve had enough

Cowboy down, cowboy down
when the bull starts spinning around
it’s gonna bring the cowboy down
